George Vecsey born in New York City, New York, USA is a sports columnist for The New York Times and is a non-fiction author. He is the older brother of New York Post sports columnist Peter Vecsey and the father of former Baltimore Sun sports columnist Laura Vecsey, David, a news editor at the New York Times, and Corinna, Vice President of the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association. Vecsey is most well-known for his work in two distinctly different fields: he has written several books on baseball history and co-written several autobiographies with well known non-sports figures.
